After four fabulous rounds to open their 2011/2012 campaign, Carline Mufflers National Super Sedan Series teams gathered at Murray Bridge Speedway on Saturday night (January 7) to continue their chase for Australia’s premier Super Sedan championship. A good line-up of local cars was on hand to take on the contracted stars and the scene was set for a great night of racing, proudly supported by JD Couriers.

Unfortunately, just as the cars hit the track for hot laps, rain swept across the venue and intensified to the point where there was no option other than abandoning the race meeting.  The Murray Bridge promotional team were keen to run the event the next day, throwing open the gates to all and sundry in appreciation of their support of the venue.  However, travel and transport arrangements by interstate teams prevented the re-scheduling of the event.

However, despite the unavailability of the NSSS stars, the track proceeded with their Sunday afternoon fixture and it was Zac Calderwood who emerged victorious in the feature event, finishing ahead of Steve Stewart and Wayne Vickers.

The next stop for the NSSS troupe will be Carrick Speedway on Friday, January 20 when the series makes its first ever sojourn to Tasmania.  Round seven will be at Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena on January 21, with a return to Carrick for round eight on Wednesday, January 25.
